How to get there: After Kaiwaka, heading north on SH1, turn left before Brynderwyn Hill onto SH12 to Dargaville. Proceed through Maungatoroto and Paparoa Village. After crossing two single-lane bridges, watch for Matakohe Kauri Museum sign. At entrance to Matakohe East Rd, turn hard left into Barlow Lane. [Click maps to enlarge]
